PropChess is a chess study website for people who want to understand their decisions. The workspace was previously labelled Chess Study; PropChess is the public name used across its lessons, articles and tools.
Read, ask, practise
Learn introduces the rules in a sequence. Articles address practical questions, with composed positions you can replay. Chat connects a question to an explicit board snapshot. Coach turns positions into guided practice.
What the software does
chess.js checks moves and basic position constraints. Stockfish searches chess variations within a stated budget. An AI language model produces explanations. These have different jobs: a fluent explanation is not proof of a move, and a limited engine search is not an exhaustive solution to every position.
The site does not claim that its material is reviewed by a titled player or a human grandmaster. New teaching material is AI-assisted and awaits an identified operator’s editorial sign-off. The editorial policy explains that distinction.
